Laurie Rasmussen helps client procure, manage, assess and improve their intellectual property assets. Laurie is experienced in a variety of technical areas, managing large portfolios and providing practical advice that delivers a return on investment in a company’s patent portfolio. She works one-on-one with inventors and in-house counsel to not only describe inventions but to develop a forward-looking approach for cost-effective patent prosecution.

Knowledgeable in a wide range of technologies, Laurie has specific experience with computer software, authentication systems, trading platforms, billing systems, distributed ledger technologies, including blockchain and smart contracts, cooling systems, mechanical devices, alternative transportation systems, call routing, mining processes and equipment, air springs, dental equipment, aerodynamic vehicle devices and exercise equipment. After working with numerous financial services companies, Laurie has developed significant experience in the fintech space and analyzing subject matter eligibility.

Laurie’s practice also includes worldwide patent preparation and prosecution, opinions/assessments, including patentability, product clearance, validity and infringement, and client counseling. She has been entrusted by clients ranging in size from Fortune 500 companies to individual inventors to handle patent preparation and prosecution matters and to render opinions.

Outside of her patent practice, Laurie assists with corporate financings and M&A transactions by evaluating intellectual property. Her counseling for transactions includes due diligence, third-party patent analysis, patent valuation, and preparation of merger and intellectual property sale and licensing documents. She also advises clients on licensing and commercialization, open-source software and other strategic transactions.

Laurie is very active in the intellectual property and legal community in Denver, including dedicating time to serve on the retention committee for the Center of Legal Inclusiveness.
